"Pitch for Kids" steps up to plate

The Renegades' "Pitch for Kids" fund is pleased to announce they have awarded McQuade Children’s Services with a grant for $2,000. The funds will be used to purchase baseball equipment to outfit the baseball field at McQuade’s main campus in New Windsor.

In this photo, provided by the Renegades, Dr. David E. Jacobsen, president & CEO of McQuade Children’s Services (right), and Kristin Jensen, McQuade’s vice president for public relations, accept the ceremonial check from the Renegades.

“We are very lucky that the success of our special events allows us to give money away in the market that has been so generous to the Renegades,” said Rick Zolzer, executive director of the "Pitch for Kids" fund. “We’re thrilled to support the efforts of an organization like McQuade Children’s Services who have been helping children locally since the Civil War.”

McQuade is an accredited, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic residential care, emergency shelter services, group homes, special education, and community-based prevention programs to special-needs children and their families. McQuade provided service to more than 3,000 children from 13 New York counties last year.

In addition to the grant, the PFK fund “adopted” McQuade Children’s Services’ Emergency Diagnostic Assessment Center in Newburgh for the holiday season. Zolzer and other PFK staffers visited the Center to personally deliver gifts to all the children residing there.

“We’re fortunate to count the Hudson Valley Renegades among our friends,” said Dr. David Jacobsen, President & CEO of McQuade Children’s Services. “Their generous spirit of giving back to the community will make a difference in the lives of so many children.”
