'Gades to get new radio voice

With the Hudson Valley Renegades' 2009 season still three months away, it might seem there's little to report on the team.

Though, while the team's field staff, including new manager Brady Williams, was announced more than two months ago, another new face — or more precisely, new voice — will also become a mainstay at Dutchess Stadium this season, as the Renegades fans around the area will listen to a new radio commentator call the action.

A 2008 graduate of Marist College, Geoff Brault will take over the play-by-play duties as the new radio voice of the Renegades, according to a source close to the negotiations.

Having called baseball games since 2005, most recently for the Class AA Binghamton Mets last year, Brault will begin his broadcasting duties with the Renegades in June when Hudson Valley opens its 16th season.

Local sports fans may know Brault as the radio voice of the Marist College women's basketball team, fresh of its appearance in the NCAA tournament in Los Angeles. Brault has also filled in for Cablevision sports anchor and "SportsScene" host Charlie Cornacchio on occasion.
